The Wildcats wasted no time to prove that they will be a force to reckon with in this year’s state title run. The Cats started their season with a convincing 7-0 win over Berea. They then proceeded to win the first ever Jesuit Cup while beating Toledo St. John and St. Xavier. Wins continued to pile up for the Cats beating Centerville, Hudson, Padua and University School. The only bump in the road came as a tie to defending state champ Westerville North. In all of these games the Cats were lead by the backbone of the team, the seniors. Co-captains, Gavin Blades and Adam Danko, feel that this is the year that the soccer team will break through for its first ever state title. The Cats are also led by seniors Kyle Taljan, Mark Barbicus and Tom O’Donnell. Junior stand-outs Mark Blades, Barry Rice and Justin Morrow look to build on a strong sophomore season. Sophomore Nick Tsipis anchors the defense in goal. The JV and freshman squads have looked very strong early this year as well. Juniors Scott Taylor, Frank Forde, Ryan Slack and Steve Szendrey have led the JV team to a 5-0 record while surrendering allowing one goal. The freshman team has looked strong with a 4-0 record including a 7-0 win over rival St. Eds. |
