Meeting Notes - 11/4

Attending were Desiree Schmitt, Kari Armstrong, Shasta Clark (of Crain's Cleveland Business), Marianne Ludwig, Steve Finegold, Walter Wright, and Doug Copeland.

Kari confirmed that the Jefferson Branch of Cleveland Public Library will have wi-fi this month. We will meet with Larry Finnagan of CPL on the 11th or 12th to explore cooperation on wi-fi and to attempt to keep formats and specs compatible with TWiFi efforts. We have two businesses waiting for our clarification and then go forward with wi-fi; they are Sherman at SouthSide and Nancy & Bob at Civilization.
Desiree will check price & specs at Linksys sp? for access point hardware and Speakeasy.net to create a special package we could offer through TWDC. Speakeasy.net (an ISP provider) has a plan for sharing DSL service by adding accounts at a reduced rate which might be attractive with landlord/tenant situations. The Ignatius computer club will begin working on our website soon.

Raffle tickets are being packaged with a display poster which Desiree has created and will be distributed to a list of points of sale we have identified. With the participation of these sale sites and individual efforts we have a goal of selling 1700 tickets before the drawing on December 12.

Marianne is going forward with plans for a second Waffle Breakfast fundraiser on December 14. We can probably serve 200 breakfasts and should aim to sell 250+/- tickets.

We now have approximately $800 in our account at TWDC (without the offered matching money) and TWDC is satisfied that we are open and transparent in our raising and spending of money. Current funds are a combination of donations, first waffle breakfast, and one Tech Soup Package (bought by TWDC).

We need to create static cling logos for participating sites and to generate public awareness.

We need to get info on best practices on SanFrancisco.com (?); they have an excellent community info page. There is interest in future use of webcams for security and crime prevention and may be a service area for twifineighbor.net. Next meeting will be November 18, 3pm at Scoops.
