2004 Summer Movie Preview
By Bobby Ciofani and Sean Campbell

Here we go again! The summer movie season is officially under way. As is the way of the movie industry, there is something for everyone this summer.

Action/Adventure/ Horror
- Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman) – a collage of legendary monsters confront the vampirehunter
- Troy (Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom) – an excuse for the current main men of Hollywood to go shirtless, this epic boasts great battle scenes, but the dialogue and lack of acting ability leave something to be desired
- The Day After Tomorrow - the eerily familiar Armageddon-like film featured what hopes to be some stellar effects and a story that makes you want to repent immediately
- The Chronicles of Riddick (Vin Diesel) – from flashy Hondas to spacecraft and futuristic weaponry, Vin is officially taking any role available in the action genre, so if you are making a film for the Fuj give big Vin a call
- Spiderman 2 (Kirsten Dunst, Tobey Maguire) – the most hyped movie of the summer is sure to be a blockbuster hit and should match the entertainment value of the first
- The Bourne Supremacy (Matt Damon) – a sequel to Matt’s entertaining The Bourne Identity should be a good way to blow a summer weekday if it matches the original
- Catwoman (Halle Berry) – well this stars Halle in 100% leather for nearly two hours, I think that will sell
- Hero (Jet Li, Zhang Ziyi) – Crouching Tiger-like martial arts fun
- Terminal (Tom Hanks) – Spielberg and Tom together again
- Darkness (Anna Paquin)
- The Manchurian Candidate(Denzel Washington, Liv Schreiber, Meryl Streep) – Denzel is intense
- The Village (Joaquin Phoenix, Judy Greer, William Hurt, Adrian Brody, and Bryce Dallas Howard) - the newest edition to M. Night Shyamalan’s resumé, should be solid
- Shall We Dance? (Jennifer Lopez) – sure to be a horror film so placed in this category
- Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (Dwight Little) – J.Lo was in the first, the movie is doomed
- King Arthur (the ‘true story’; Clive Owen, Keira Knightly, Ioan Gruffudd) – a huge Keira Knightly fan, she is tough and beautiful as Lady Gwynovere

Comedy
- New York Minute (the Olsen Twins, I mean, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) – well boys and girls, this could be a popular one, it is the Olsen Twins. So, if you didn’t get enough fun in Mean Girls go check it out
- A Cinderella Story (Hilary Duff) – if Lohan and the Olsens don’t float your boat, check out Disney’s new product, Hillary Duff in this modern remake
- Shrek 2 (Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, John Cleese, Julie Andrews, and Eddie Murphy) – a studded cast, this flick is sure to be a hit offering a fun fantasy land for children with a mixture of innuendo and witty comedy for the adults forced to haul them there.
- Breakin’ All the Rules (Jamie Foxx, Gabrielle Union) – ehhhhh…
- Raising Helen (Kate Hudson) – Kate Hudson is cute, the classic chick-flick here
- Soul Plane (Snoop Dogg) – just when you thought demand had tapered off for the brilliant and wide-ranged talents of Lil’John, another opportunity for him to yell really loudly presents itself; an ensemble of “soulful” icons it should be interesting
- Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (Ben Stiller) – Zoolander is hilarious
- White Chicks (the Wayans Brothers) – the comical family mocks, believe it or not, white chicks. Just when you think Juwanna Man exhausted this type of storyline

Other
-Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson) - the third installment in the Harry Potter series, coming out June 4, is sure to please the diehard HP fans this summer
- The Stepford Wives (Nicole Kidman, Matthew Broderick, Bette Midler, Glenn Close, Christopher Walken) – a collection aging but talented actors, this movie should offer something for middleaged women; just make sure you avoid talking to your mom about going to movies when this movie is released.
